has anyone went to Australia on a working holiday visa?

I am going to Australia for a year on a working visa from Ireland in July. I plan to fly to Sydney and hope to get work there for a few months before traveling around,

I could really do with some advice on what to pack and what to leave at home..

If anyone has went to Australia for a year on the working visa I would be grateful to hear any advice/tips they have from their experience, on packing and travel ling,

Also if anyone has went from Ireland/UK what is the best (and cheapest) way to go about booking flights

Hi, im from the uk and am in my last 2 weeks of my working holiday visa (been here a year) i went with bunac who specialises in gap year travel in particular but they do everything for you like visa processing, bank accounts, tax file numbers, travel info, meeting at the airport along with a group of other people who would be going on the same flight as you and a great way to meet new people. (dont use their travel insurance though- it’s expensive. have a look http://www.bunac.org/uk/workaustralia/

Don’t over pack. i did that and ive had to send home over $200 worth of clothes back to the uk. if your a girl take a travel hairdryer (fold up one from boots is great)
if u want to work in sydney bear in mind that their winter which is roughly from april to september can be really nippy. the same goes for melbourne if not colder but i would pick melbourne over sydney anyday! ive been here for 7 months and its awesome!

save up as mich money as possible before you leave- this is so important because like me you may not find a job straight away and if uou run out you’ll be devastated if you have to come home!

let me know if you have any other questions
